From & To Patzcuaro / Morelia
The new road ” AUTOPISTA SIGLO XXI ” from Zihua to Patzcuaro is open. Just head north out of Zihua on the coast road 200, you will come to the Patzcuaro turn off before Lazaro. You can drive it in about 3 hours. Best to take along a little lunch. Drive from Patzcuaro to Morelia is about an hour. Stick to driving in daylight hours only. Gas up before heading in land off Route 200.

The road Autopista del Sol – Expressway “AUTOPISTA DEL SOL” (MEX-95D) Mexico City-Acapulco (Toll-way, 4 lanes, 360 Kms / 225 Miles, 4.0 hrs.). Then, take Libramiento (cutoff) to get to the road to Zihuatanejo (MEX-200) or go through Acapulco’s coastline road if you want to take a rest or a meal stop; it wont take an excessive time if you use the tunnel road with exception on the rush hours when traffic is heavy everywhere. Toll required to use MaxiTunel (MaxiTunnel).
If you will be using the “Libramiento” (cutoff), after reaching the last Toll Booth near Acapulco you must head north on Highway “MEX-95” (freeway) for approx. 18 Kms. (11 miles) to be able to take it. It is clearly marked. Cutoff will save you a lot of time but use it during daylight hours only.
